The Alexander Valley is a California American Viticultural Area (AVA) just north of Healdsburg, in Sonoma County.  It is the largest and most fully-planted wine region in Sonoma.  Highway 101 runs through the valley, and the Russian River flows down the valley, surrounded by vineyards on both sides.  From higher elevations of the valley rim, there are incredible views and growing areas that are perfect for Cabernet Sauvignon and many other rich grape varietals.  The region was named for Cyrus Alexander, owner of part of the Rancho Sotoyome Mexican land grant in 1847.  The Alexander Valley AVA status was granted to the region in 1984 and is home to many noted wineries such as Jordan, Silver Oak, White Oak, and Clos du Bois.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This is a rich, luscious Cab with a wonderful dark fruit nose, deep cassis, black cherry, hints of tobacco and licorice, with deep, full tannins. While enjoyable now, our Cabernet Sauvignon will age very well.
Winemaker Notes
We pick the grapes for our Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon by hand and it is truly a wonderful experience. After destemming, we perform whole berry fermentation using Rockpile yeast to bring out the classic Cabernet nose. We allow fermentation to progress for three weeks for optimum anthocyanin extraction and tannin binding. We then age our Cab in both new and older French oak barrels for proper structure and balance, yielding a truly age-worthy wine that can be enjoyed now or laid down in your wine cellar for years.
Food Pairing Notes
Ribeye steak, wine braised short ribs, roasted duck breast, braised venison, game meats, bbq lamb ribs.
